Volunteer Assignment
We will be collecting trash along the bayou paths in the Downtown area as a part of the Trash Free Gulf campaign.
"The Trash Free Gulf campaign, a program of the Gulf Trust, is presented by H-E-B's Our Texas, Our Future. We are working with partners across Texas in May 2026 to conduct litter cleanups in every major watershed and along the coastline. We can turn the tide together by keeping our local waters clean - for Texas and beyond. Through our collective efforts at home, we can ensure our waterways thrive and create a lasting impact downstream."
PAID PARKING

There is no free parking near our meeting site. There is a paid lot behind the El Centro club (the old Spaghetti Warehouse location) next to the trail and the bayou adjacent to Allen's Landing. There are also other paid locations on the street and in nearby lots and garages.
There is a large event at the Water Works on Sabine St. this weekend. They have contracted City Lots H and C. There is no free parking there this weekend. You do not have to be part of the festival to park there, but would have to pay.
The City's metered lot along Allen Pkwy. is also available, but you do need to pay at the meters or through their app.

There is a parking lot at this location, street parking, and other as noted on map link. The following link also has information other nearby parking. There is a large festival set-up going on which will have 16 parking spots towards the ramp closed off. Our front part of the lot and street parking are available.

OTHER TRANSIT
METRO Red Line. We will be three blocks north of the Preston NB station and just across the bayou from the UH-Downtown station. There are also several bus stops from various lines on Travis St, Fannin St. and Franklin St. The site is also accessible by bike along the bayou trail and the Austin St. bike lines which end at the Joe Campos Torres Plaza on Commerce St. where the bayou path to Allen's Landing begins.
Meeting/Check-In
1001 Commerce St. - Allen's Landing. (Main St. at Commerce St.) We will be meeting down by the original docks just below the Sunset Coffee Building at the bayou level.
We will begin check-in at 8:30, planning to start our work between 8:45 and 9:00 am.
