Our volunteers for our June 2025 Volunteer Day will be removing several varieties of invasive plants from some of our native wildflower areas. One variety of invasive will be going to seed soon. Another is in most cases still small and can be removed entirely by hand. These plants if left to go to seed can easily create a monoculture crowding out the wildflowers. Our volunteers last year were able to clear the invasives from most of the wildflower areas creating the incredible showing of color this year.
YOU MUST COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE AND WAIVER PRIOR TO ARRIVING. The project email was sent out to pre-registered volunteers Friday at 2:00 pm.
Parking: 3422 Allen Parkway, Lost Lake.
Entrance into the Lost Lake parking lot is from the west-bound lanes only. I-45 exits onto Allen Parkway. From that direction you'd pass Montrose and Waugh on the way.
For those coming from the west, they'll be going east from Shepherd Dr. and pass Dunlavy St. They can then do the U-turn at Waugh to head west back to the entrance.
The restaurant is open and their valet spaces are not available. Carpooling is encouraged.

If there are no spaces in the lot (or if it is more convenient for you), the best option is to park in the neighborhood north of Memorial close to Jackson Hill St. There are usually spaces along Jackson Hill St. and on Scotland St. by Cleveland Park. There are usually also a few spots at Spott's Park and along Feagan St. in front of the United Way building. All of those locations feed into Buffalo Bayou Park across the Jackson Hill pedestrian bridge. Once you have crossed to near Allen Pkwy, Lost Lake is just to your right.
(keep in mind that you will be parking in a public area, we recommend you keep all valuables at home and or not visible in your vehicle)
